365project: Day 2

Day two.

Today was much more simplistic than yesterday. It was also more simplistic than it was supposed to be. We did not end up doing our churches tour, will have to see when that happens. Instead, it took the path of a typical lazy Saturday, without necessarily being lazy. My wife ended up drawing a picture of an orange and I wrote my Day 1 blog.

As the day progressed, I tried to come up with a photo idea when I saw some little daisies against our neighbours’ wall. The contrast popped in my mind’s eye and that was it. A couple of minutes spent in the alley next to our house and I managed to get a decently interesting photo.

Imagine my delight when upon editing the photo I discovered a separate interesting photo within the original once cropped. To me this was quite a valuable lesson: Don’t be afraid to drastically crop a photo to unveil all that it has to offer.

For now, I can’t decide which one is better so I will use both. Or perhaps a little social media poll is in order?

Cropped. I really like the effect created by removing the additional colour of the wall in the background as it immediately draws more attention to the daisies themselves.

I had more time to play around with than yesterday, so I decided to test the waters at the local park, but if nothing else, I at least discovered a good time not to go there. Harsh lighting resulting in photos that I don’t feel like trying to save. I am looking forward to moody autumn and winter tones in there though.

 Bring on day 3.
